On February 2, 2021, @FBI Special Agents Daniel Alfin and Laura Schwartzenberger were on a team executing a search warrant in Sunrise, FL, as part of an investigation involving child sexual abuse material and violent crimes against children, when the suspect inside opened fire, fatally wounding the special agents. During #NationalPoliceWeek 2024, NCMEC remembers and pays homage to Special Agents Alfin and Schwartzenberger and all those who have given their lives in the line of duty to find missing children, combat child sexual exploitation, and prevent child victimization.

“It has been a mama's worst nightmare to have Serenity gone,” said Darcie Gentry, Serenity’s mom. Today marks another birthday celebration without Serenity. As she should be blowing out candles, her absence weighs heavy on her family. For more on Serenity's story and how you can aid in the search, follow the link below: https://lnkd.in/e5bUEwwd

This #MothersDay we honor the mothers who have lost their children, those whose children have been exploited, and those that are still searching. For over 26 years, Team HOPE volunteers, who know first-hand the pain of having a missing or sexually exploited child have generously extended their hearts and provided peer support to countless people. We're here to help. Call 866-305-HOPE (4673) to talk to a Team HOPE member. Learn about the invaluable work of Team HOPE: missingkids.org/teamhope

On May 6, 2013, Amanda Berry made a call to 911: “Help me, please! I’m Amanda Berry! I’ve been kidnapped! I’ve been missing for 10 years, and I’m here and I’m free now!" Amanda had just escaped what her Cleveland community later would call the “house of horrors,” freeing herself and Gina DeJesus, Michelle Knight and Amanda’s daughter, who were all held captive for years. In 2014, on the anniversary of their escape, Amanda and Gina were honored with NCMEC’s Courage Award. #40YearsofHope

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) applauds signing of the REPORT Act into law. The REPORT Act provides critical improvements to keep children safer from online sexual exploitation, including enabling the use of modern technology to combat online child sexual abuse material (CSAM); empowering children and their adult representatives to report CSAM depicting the child to NCMEC; requiring online platforms to report child sex trafficking and online enticement to NCMEC; and supporting law enforcement investigations by requiring online platforms to retain information reported to the CyberTipline for one year. Thank you to you to our Congressional supporters for helping us to ensure that every child has a #safechildhood; Senator Marsha Blackburn, Office of U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff, Senator Mike Lee, Senator Robert Menendez, Senator James Lankford, Senator Marco Rubio, Representative Laurel Lee, Representative Susie Lee, Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks, M.D. and Representative Madeleine Dean NCMEC is proud to have worked with our partners on getting the REPORT Act passed into law. Together, we can ensure that every child has a #safechildhood.
